Hi I’m Brad Perrott and I’m an actor & screenwriter. I started in both industries late in life, but quickly gaining ground in both. As of today I have 8 screenplay competition wins as well as too many notable acting jobs to list (imdb.me/bradperrott). Just patiently waiting to get noticed, maybe this interview does that???
Well a guy named Jon Dobner wrote an Amazon-published book of the same name. A book is tell-not-show and a screenplay is the exact opposite. Covid was (and still is) a mighty dark chapter for this world, but the lockdown did present an opportunity to become engulfed in something major. I knew that just eating/exercising/sleeping properly wasn’t enough. The book publishing, the lockdown, and a guy named Greg Garaizar willing to collaborate on the project all seemed to present themselves at the same time. It was like a perfect storm of opportunity, I had to capitalize.
Well it’s my 1st screenplay, and I have to say I seriously doubt there will be a 2nd, it was an extremely grueling process. Interpretation of screenplay coverage is extremely vital. It’s important to neither take constructive comments personally nor positive comments too well. Coverage allows points of view that the writer doesn’t have access to. It is something you pay for, so it’s a business transaction, and business shouldn’t be taken personally. Get your money’s worth from coverage, and implement it in the best interest of the project.
Well the coverage has been extremely positive in regards to the rapid thrilling pacing and unique dialogue source. My favorite coverage comment was that it seemed as if all of the characters wrote their own dialogue, not the writer. I have also been a lifelong businessman, so imagine the countless phone calls & meetings I’ve taken. This is a dialogue source like none other, and what makes this screenplay different from the millions in the Hollywood queue! Another analyst said it is a fast, easy read, and then stressed that it is an extremely high compliment. Also the 8 screenplay competition wins, those are favorable reactions to the screenplay as well!
Everything. I’m either going to make one hell of a splash in this industry as an actor, writer or both, or die of old age trying. And guess what? I’m in it for whichever comes first...
